Council's Big Screen To Show Apology

NEWCASTLE City Council will set up a big screen inside City Hall tomorrow to show a live broadcast of the Federal Government's apology to the stolen generations.

Councillor Barbara Gaudry said yesterday a ceremony, involving representatives of the area's Aboriginal community, would start at 8.30am before the broadcast at 9am.

The Government planned to wait until tonight to reveal the wording of the apology, a move that prompted fierce criticism from the Opposition. The Government had not finalised the wording of the apology yesterday.
